1. The Telnet connection must be running. If it is not, press <F6> (or select "Open Telnet Connection") and
wait until it starts. If you do not succeed connecting, check your Internet connection and revise your account
settings as explained here.
2. Select the goban in which you want to observe that game. If necessary, you can create new gobans by just splitting
existing gobans. Don't care about the content or board size of that goban, it will be adjusted when observation starts.
3. Your Games in Play list must be recent. If it is not, press <F9> (or select "List games") to update it.

 |
If you float the spreadsheet-like games (or players) window and drag it to some place on your desktop (ideally to a second
monitor) GoKnot won't close it. That makes observing many games easier. If you do not have a multiple monitor system, you
may like the MAI option "Float in a free window". Press <Alt>+<Z> to display the MAI control menu.
This allows floating windows to float behind GoKnot. And you can find the floating window at the <Alt>+<Tab>
selection of top windows.

When the list shows up for the first time, it will be sorted according to the option "Sort games list by" set in "Telnet options".
If you click on the column headers (ID#, Wplayer, ..), the list will sort by the values of that column. If you click again,
in reverse order.
4. When you have pressed <F7> (or selected "Observe a game"), the games list window shows a red line at the
last game you (simple-)clicked. When you have chosen the game you want to observe, double-click on it. This starts
observation.
If you experience any problems, follow the Troubleshooting guide at the end of this page.
